Mark,
adding a heavy medication to your dogs daily diet for extended periods of time is not something I recommend.
This can have damaging effects on internal organs and other unhealthy effects on the body. My recommendation is to eliminate the carbs, (sweet potatoes) these break down into sugars and feed the natural yeast in the body. This yeast is one of the most common causes of itching, scratching, licking, biting, ear infections, skin irritations and more. Typically most skin irritations in dogs today have to do with nutritional deficiencies. THis means there are not enough good fats, proteins, minerals and vitamins in their processed foods, and way too many carbs, starches and grains. (corn, wheat, soy, barley, potatoes, sweet potatoes, etc...) these are fillers, however, dogs do not have a nutritional requirement for carbohydrates. They are a carnivore, and need meats and good fats. Dinovite canine supplements help to provide the vitamins and minerals they need that get cooked out of processed foods, and help make a rounded diet. Here's something i think will help you a lot: Understanding yeast infections in dogs.

My 9yr old Shepherd has been on raw diet for what will be 2yrs this coming September. It consists of beef, eggs (w/shells), sweet potato (for a filler), glucosamine, natural hydrocortizone (40mg pills) and Alaskan fish oil). She is still itching and we are doing Staph Lysate injections twice a week. She is a lean 80lb dog and enjoys her meals more than she ever did when she was on dry.

She is relatively comfortable but still has occasional outbreaks of soars that put her on antibiotics to clear them up. If we are late by one day on the injections, her itching becomes more noticibly more obvious.

 Can your product help us?

Thank You very Much.

Steve,
There's nothing wrong with feeding ground beef.
Here's a video that I think is a great easy recipe.
I actually feed this recipe to my cat and he does great! :)
I hope this helps!

What is your take on the Raw Meaty Bones diet? I know they advocate against ground beef, which is what you use in your raw diet. If one were to subscribe to the Raw Meaty Bones diet, how does one incorporate Din-O-Vite?

We have a very young Morkie puppy. I doubt she could eat through the chicken backs (which is how advocates of the Raw Meaty Bones diet suggest you start a dog on this diet). So how would you suggest starting such a young and small puppy on this diet? Thanks!

Paula: I'd recommend not feeding raw eggs daily to your dogs as this can cause a Vitamin B deficiency. And, I'd also recommend feeding meat to your dogs daily. Canned fish is ok once in a while, however the sodium levels are pretty extreme for a daily diet. I'd highly recommend checking out our Homemade Dog Food recipe, on the front page at www.dinovite.com for a good, balanced, quality, easy food for your dogs.

Gabe: Thank you for the kind words, so lacking in our culture today. We try very hard to help people help their pets. Switching to kibble may cause digestive upset. Instead, you may want to freeze your homemade food in daily portions (patties or meat balls). The caregiver can simply give your dog a frozen patty daily. It's a great frozen treat for your dog and it's as simple as feeding kibble. Hope this helps!

On the Dinovite path ... I'm hoping it works. Also, I think this company is great, not just for the products but for the customer service, job well done. One quick question - we have to board our two dogs a couple times of year, if we start a raw diet and are forced to go away from it while they are boarded, what should we do?? Would it be bad to give them kibble for the week or so while they are boarded.

I have 5 mini dachies, tried the raw diet for 2 wks and today I did a little different. I made rice added garlic powder, after it cooked added supplement and then 3 raw eggs . They ate & seemed to be happy with that. I didn't have hamburger so they had some dry dogfood in their bowl. They barely touched the dog food. I have sardines not to mention tuna. Sometimes I would pour the tuna water over their dogfood & they went nuts.

Cindy: Start your dog off eating about the same amount of food he gets now, just with raw. Then adjust if he is getting thin or heavy.
